Comments:

Six meter conditions were pretty good this year. It has been many
years since we have had good Es in this contest - so it was nice to
get a break this year. I did not get any 2m Es this year but we did
have some good tropo out to about 600-700 miles and that made it
possible to work some of the small stations on a few bands. I was
also able to work into MS on 144 FM - and that was fun.

On Sunday I was called by F4ARU on 6m SSB and later while I was on CW
I worked a number of European stations. Most were fairly week. F4ARU
was nice and loud and MD0CCE was very strong and in fact I was
confused when he came back thinking he was getting covered up by a USA
station - but it was him - with a big signal.

The local rovers:

KA5D/R
W5TN/R
KD5IKG/R

Were out and as always great to work them on many bands.
They seemed to have done well - esp on 6 meters on Sunday
afternoon.

I had to use the backup, backup 6m amp - the Elecraft KPA-500 that
I use for my remote station setup. I hope by next time I can have
something closer to 1500 watts going.

I also had issues with the IF / relay setup for my 2304 and 10Ghz
systems. In the week before the contest I made some changes to the
transverters and amp setup for 902 and 1296. I got a bigger amp going
on 1296 and a bit better transverter setup going on both of these
bands - so that was cool. But I seem to have broken 2304/10ghz
transmit. During the tropo on Sunday morning WB5ZDP in Dallas was on
the pin loud on 10Ghz - but nothing I did seemed to get a transmit
signal going on 10 ghz. I have plans to get the 10 ghz station
upgraded - it is up on the tower - so I hope to get the work done on
that in the coming months before the 10 ghz contest in August.

As always it was great to work everyone - and hope to see you all on
the bands again next time.

Last year I made to digital contacts in	this contest. I do not	enjoy
digital / RTTY contests. I usually do not do any of these
contests. And for me the fact that the VHF contests have become more
and more digital contests makes me sad. I enjoy digging the weak
signals out of the noise with my ears. I love hearing distant signals
and decoding them with my ears and brain. So it was an easy choice
for me this year to enter the analog category. I would have been all
analog even if there was not a category.
