K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC.
In the 2022 CQ MM CW test I (N3UM) operated SOHP. My goal was
to get something like the 371 Qs and 180 mults W3GB and I got
doing Multi-Op in 2021, our first CQ MM. I did that, with 0.98X
as many Q pts, 0.90X as many mults, and 0.88X the claimed score
in 0.77X the hours BIC.
SFIs of 122 and 135 made high bands great, but Kp of 3-4 and R3
blackouts from solar X-rays in dark hours made low bands poor.
I got 75% of my Q points and 85% of total mults on high bands.
EU gave me the most Qs and cty mults, SA all my pfx mults. I got
80% of my Q pts and 89% of my mults from EU & SA.
So, the heart of CQ MM was making high-band EU and SA Qs, by
clicking spots. Whenever one bandmap cleared, I went to
another high band till it filled again. Run attempts failed.
In 4.4 hrs after my 11Z start I got 52 Qs on 20 M, 47 on 15 M,
and 17 on 10 M, plus 45 cty mults and 36 pfx mults. After lunch I
got another 74 high-band Qs, 1820-2020Z; 25 were on 20 M in my
only run, 13 NA and 13 EU for 80 pts. On agn at 2350Z 40 M was slow,
48 Qs in 2.1 hrs, but most were SA and EU for 6 or 10 pts. Only
2 Qs on 80 M; high Kp and solar X-rays, pitiful. Early QRT, 0220Z.
Back on 1430-1610Z I got 11 Qs on 20 M and 28 on 15 M at
3 and 10 pts/Q, most EU and SA. After lunch, 20-2150Z was pretty
good for Sun. PM; 55 20-M Qs and 14 mults in 1.8 hrs, mostly EU.
After supper, it was great to get 12 Qs on 20 M and 12 Qs & 13 cty
mults on 40 M in the last 0.9 hr; Kp=2, no X-ray blackouts.
