Saturday and Sunday were like two different contests.  The majority of Friday
evening / Saturday was North / South propagation.  Propagation was great to the
US / Caribbean area (495Q), SA (63Q), and AF (11Q).  I even managed to work 5Q
in Oceania (2x KH6 and 3x ZL).  Propagation to the East was a different story
with only 39 EU in the log (35x Zone 14, 3x Zone 15, 1x Zone 2, and only 13
countries), with the bulk of them on the Western edge of EU.  Despite that, I
still ended Saturday with 612Qs 19 zones and 53 countries.  I was fearful that
Sunday would be a repeat of Saturday, or worse.

Sunday was completely different.  I was able to work EU as soon as the band
opened (first QSO at 1127Z) and ran mostly EU (350 in total) until the band
closed to EU.  During that time I worked very few NA or SA.  Once the band
closed to EU I was able to run mostly the US with the occasional SA.  I heard
very few if any of the Caribbean mults that I worked on Saturday, so I’m glad
I worked them on Saturday.

I deliberately tried to run on a frequency high in the band to avoid the QRM. 
10m is wide, so why not?  It paid off many times as I worked many stations that
were just at the noise level.  There’s no way I would have worked them if I
was lower in the band with much more QRM.

I made another 154 Qs on the other bands when 10m was closed.  

Funny / interesting points in the contest:

- QSO Saturday morning: 1228Z; First QSO Sunday morning: 1127Z
- 612 Qs Saturday, 624 Qs Sunday
- HZ0YL broke through the pileup and called me on Sunday.  Despite her calling
and me giving her a report several times, I heard her say “No copy”.  That
was a double mult that got a way.  Luckily she called back about 10 minutes
later.  Whew!  The same happened with A71BX.
- Back to back QSOs with AI0M and IM0A - same letters but in a different order!
- I use a wireless keyboard.  Saturday afternoon N1MM’s “F1” was calling
CQ on repeat for a minute or so.  Someone called so I entered their call but the
CQ never stopped!  Did I have the wrong window in focus?  I clicked the Entry
window and started typing again but the CQ still didn’t stop and stations were
still calling!  Did I lose my internet connection to the remote?  Nope, the
waterfall display was still working.  It finally dawned on me that the battery
had died  in the keyboard!  I check my usual spot for spare batteries, but there
aren’t any!  A quick run upstairs to get a new battery and I’m back in
business.  Thanks to N5OT for calling back later.  We both had a chuckle when I
told him what happened. Apologies to the other stations calling that I didn't
work.
