Another fine CQP contest. I really enjoy doing this contest even if
the rate can get a bit slow and it is somewhat contact limited. I
keep hoping 10 meters will open from here and I get get up into the
1500+ contact range but so far there has never been a good year in the
last 10+ where we had good 10 meters any of the times I have done this
contest. But it keeps me coming back.
Imperial was my last county and I ended up with only two contacts from
that county and they were with the same station.
K9CT - thanks for the nice words. Even though we are in different
categories I was trying to catch up to you - but you got about 10k
points ahead of me very early on and I could never get those back. I
am not a great CW op but I suspect that being assisted in this contest
and the fact that anyone that calls CQ gets spotted makes it very nice
for poaching everyone that makes a noise on CW. Being unassisted I
have limited time to find all of those folks. As a result my CW
totals are always in the high 200 to low 300 area and I make about
1050 or so SSB contacts.
The K9CT score is very good - and I think will be the highest S/O
score ever. Strong work.
I try calling CQ on CW but it results in very few answers and while I
am doing that not getting answers I am missing out on being able to
move the casual guys from the band they answer me on SSB to another
band - and since I know there is a finite number of stations to work
I need to work as many as I can on as many bands as I can.
N6TR has been doing some work on the old tr-log program - now trlinux
- that adds two QSO entry windows with two keyboards. In the past I
have always done some amount of alternating CQs between two bands and
moving just about everyone that calls in to another band - this new to
TR - interface seems to make this process much easier to mange. It
will be interesting to explore more 2BSIQ type operating in contests
that have a bit more activity. At times in the CQP it kept me very
busy. That was nice. It will be interesting to see it get more
refined.
