Comments:
I set up a wire dipole on 6, connected to my HF station to monitor the activity
as it takes only 5 minutes to connect at any time, broadside to east and west.
Not long into the contest I heard VE3OIL/R loud, announcing he was qsy to
432.117 to work a few then returning to 144. Poof, gone. No idea where Russ
was.
Not long after I heard VE3MIS and know they have a good station. With the Icom
756 ProII preamp 2 on they were S3. Turn it off and they were a hint of a
signal in the noise, which was low. No point in attempting a qso.
Never heard any others but it was entertaining to see many struggling on another
mode trying to get a qso. "Me next, me next, I need your grid."
I was hoping to hear some American qso's on 6 as Rochester and others on the
south side of Lake Ontario were well
represented in this contest. I had a break from boredom and it was fun.
Thanks to the ARRL for sponsoring and to all who participated.
73,
Bill VE3CRU
