Record # of Qs and record score!
100W through ladder line to an 80m inverted vee. High winds on Thursday did
something to the antenna because my tuner (with its internal 4:1 balun) could no
longer work its magic on all the HF contest bands. It was working ok for the
1900Z CWops CWT on Wednesday and then Friday not so good. So I quickly threw
together a 1:1 balun and used that with a worst case SWR of 1.6:1 (15m). At
least I was able to operate on all frequencies available for the contest. Visual
inspection of the antenna and ladder line revealed no damage. I guess when the
weather improves I will have to lower the mast and see if there is a problem at
the antenna feedpoint.
