Comments:

Another great weekend in Belize! WC0W has family in Belize and has done this
contest for 30+ years. K5PI made his 15th trip this year. WW0G has come down
six times. W5MJ and VE7KW have been twice. We were happy to welcome VA7DX this
year.

Ours is a Field Day type operation with an A3S tribander, 2 element 40M wire
beam, 80M inverted vee, and 160M inverted L. 160 is always a challenge for us,
but we keep working on it. The repositioned inverted L with four loaded radials
seemed the best yet for transmit. The pennant RX antenna worked pretty well,
but the short BOG we put up didn't really work at all. We experimented with
using a hex beam as a diversity RX antenna and found it was helpful at times.

We saw a solar flux number of 340(!?) and wondered whether the forecast of a
disturbance might mean a blackout. A blackout never materialized, fortunately,
and we tried to make the best of the great high band conditions. We might have
done well to emphasize 10M even more than we did. The low bands were nice and
quiet on Friday night but a bit noisy on Saturday.

Many thanks to the Silva family for the hospitality, and to John's wife Leigh
(WC0T) for all the support -- and a bit of time at the paddles too.

We're off to one of the islands tomorrow for some R&R. See you next year!
