Comments:
Nice to have 10m back! Lots of good runs on all bands except 160m. I was
surprised I could run on 80m with a 40ft shunt-fed tower and 100W but it was a
lot of fun. On 15m and 20m, I alternated between my SE pointing yagi at 40' and
my BigIR vertical so that I wouldn't have to rotate the beam towards the west or
southwest. It seemed to work quite well.
The big disappointment was I hardly worked Canadian stations (a dozen VE3 and a
dozen VE7 was 95% of it), with only a single VE6 entry in the log - and that was
in the last hour on 160m (VE6RCN). This was probably because I ran almost the
whole time, being unassisted. I enjoyed the rates while they lasted but could
see the Bz turning negative and knew the end would be a grind. I finished an
hour before the official contest end, having worked my 10 hours.
This was my first NAQP CW in 6 years and I want to thank Bud, VA7ST, for
inviting me to be on the Aurora Busters team.
