SOHP but Murphy was with me all the way...well, almost. Right at the start the
grid current on my amp was reading 3/4 scale and no amplifier adjustments made
any difference. The output was normal though and I knew from experience that
when I peaked it with the plate tuning and then set the loading clockwise to
where the output started to drop that the grid current was usually OK. I decided
to operate that way and keep my fingers crossed that I wouldnt blow my $2000+
3cx1500 tube.

Friday night produced one of the best Eu openings I can remember. I was working
Eu easily in the midst of the strong US signals. My unterminated "Eu"
beverage worked so well, quieting the band noise I used it almost full time to
copy anyone in any direction! On puny weak signals the APF pulled many thru that
I never would have copied otherwise.

Saturday was a different story, although I expected another good Eu opening
because I copied Eu stations at 2100 in daylight on the beverage, but they didnt
hear me. Rate was way down as expected, so I took alot of OFF times and dozed in
front of the TV. I was determined to catch Eu sunrise (which I usually miss in
DX Tests) and I quit at 0615Z. All in all, it was alot of fun so I met my goal.

Oh yeah...Murphy. About half an hour before the end everything started working
right with normal grid current readings. Now I have to decide whether to open it
up and look for an intermittent or just let it ride.
