Comments:

Both nights started at 2200 UTC and did not leave the operating chair until
after 0800 UTC (no restroom breaks, etc). Fought local QRN with a continuous
cycle of 30 seconds on and 60 seconds off during the entire contest and need to
track this RFI down as it drove me nuts. Not much from Europe the first night
but pleasantly surprised the second night when there was a decent opening into
parts of Europe between 0500 to 0630 UTC and it all started when a YL and then a
S5 called me and finished off the opening by working a MW5 and a MJ5. Every 160
meter CW contact is still so magical, and thanks to everyone that took part in
the contest.

Note: Jay (W9TC) and I live 2.8 miles apart and we killed each others receiver
while transmitting during the contest. I probably will employ a tuned loop with
the null pointed at Jays for use during future 160 meter contests. I'm sure
some of my contacts will be busts due to less than ideal receiver performance
due to this issue.

Transceiver: Kenwood TS-180s (100 watts) with 500 Hz IF filter

TX Antenna: 68 foot base loaded vertical wire hanging straight down from a very
tall Sycamore tree with 55 short buried radials (2500 feet of radials)

RX Antennas: 3 small point fed pennants (pointing 40, 160, and 300 degrees).

Audio Filter: Hi-Per-Mite active audio filter (200 Hz bandwidth).

73, Don (wd8dsb)
