This contest always conflicts with a major work event on Saturday. As an added
bonus, I lost part of a dental filling on Thursday and the remaining jagged edge
hurt my tongue to eat, drink, or talk. Should have tried to get in on Friday to
get it repaired, but too busy. Fortunately, it wasn’t as bad over the
weekend.

Of course, 10 meters was the star of the show with 15 as a valuable co-star.
The opening to Asia Friday evening local time was fantastic. I was just
expecting a lot of JAs, but ended up catching Zones 19, 23 (new if confirmed),
24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, and 32 in the first 2 hours on 10/15. Needed to
quit early to be ready for Saturday. Snuck out at lunch Saturday for a few
QSOs, and was able to get on the air for real by 1:30pm local (2030UT). Had a
weak opening to Zone 14 and more Asia later in the afternoon.

Saturday night local I struggled with low rates on 40. Maybe there’s
something wrong with the vertical because 20 and 40 were both lousy. On the
other hand, I managed to work JA, ZL, VK, and EA8 on 40 and JA and VK on 20 so I
don’t know if it was conditions and people not being on the bands. I need a
safer and easier way to get my 20m Yagi up and down.

Sunday I was on at the right time for 10/15 to EU, which was pretty much just
Spain for quite a while, then it finally opened up into Zone 15.

All S&P. Got JA3YBK, KH6J, KL7RA on all 4 of my bands. Was nice to get a
new band slot from the T2C and E51JAN DXpeditions. Log says 14.8 hours based on
QSO times, but based on actual operating times it was more like 16. Not quite
as good overall as ARRL DX in March, but still a lot of fun.
