Comments:

The contest began with fun and games, with Braco up the tower troubleshooting a
coax failure on the main 40m Yagi. Naturally it was the last portion of the
cable where the fault was discovered. Later on on day one, the multiplier amp's
input resistor blew out...the tiny component rated at 250W was replaced with a
traditional dummy load unit and we were back in business. These 2 issues meant
little sleep for our skilled technicians E77DX and E70R... To add to the above
our inverted L for 160m never worked, and the Beverage added to the inband
station was deaf from the get go. Conditions were poor during the night and we
battled for every point. Team 2 arrived fresh in the morning to push on with a
move from 40m straight to 15m for the SE Asian party. Conditions were good but
not great. 10m kicked in and soon we were cruising. By midnight we had 5500 QSOs
in the log and a ton of multipliers...we were now ahead of last year's winning
score. Mults were being passed throughout and even skeds were attended by our
correspondents, here GJ7LJJ excelled with 3 QSYs and one sked. Thanks to all
that moved and especially Nigel! The contest brought some new station records:
total QSOs, highest ever claimed score and a gobsmacking 392 hour!! The local
lads provided food and beverages fit for kings and morale was high. We pushed on
through day two, with the 2 teams handing over with Livescore gaps steadily
increasing on our local competition. LZ5R seemed to be struggling..we can only
assume they operated remote..and EI7M were well below our expectations.
Unfortunately TM6M fell off Livescore within an hour of the start and neighbours
IR4X are still logging on paper ;). Thanks to CQWW for this wonderful event and
to all of you who come back every year to participate. See you all again soon!
73 from all the E7DX team!
