Comments:
Thanks again Tim for the invite! 2 weeks before the contest we got together at
the station to set it back up for 2BSIQ. We also walked all the beverages to
make sure the resistors were still good and nothing fell apart since the last
contest. All antennas tested good. Arrived Friday morning and added 20 more
radials to the 80 meter Vertical and fixed some bad ones on the 160 meter
Vertical. Close to the start we discovered a bad recording box on the right
radio and had to bypass it and use the internal DVK on the 7610. Only drawback
was no audio muting on the left radio when transmitting.
Contest start was awesome. Had a 200+ first hour and overall managed a 100+ rate
for the first 12 hours. 10 meters was hot to Asia, Pacific and South America.
After the high bands died I settled into 2 radio CQing between 20 and 40 meters.
20 was ok and 40 was great to SA/Caribbean. When 20 dropped off I stayed strong
on 40 running Oceania/Asia/SA. Never heard many European’s on the first night.
Used the 2nd radio to S&P 80 and 160. When 80 opened to JA I had a nice
2BSIQ going on.
When I started hearing Europe on 20 I started using the 2nd radio to get as many
mults as I could since running is difficult in the early hours and only produces
tons of USA Q’s. I quickly checked 15 and did the same thing until I heard
Europe on 10 meters and started 2BSIQ on 40 and 10. After 40 slowed down I ran
mostly on 10 and occasionally on 15 and 20. It was a real grind on the high
bands this year also. Even though we had propagation to Europe it seemed like
every country except EA and F were on a skew path. 15 meter signals were really
disturbed creating a lot of repeats on weaker signals. 20 was only runnable for
a few hours all weekend. This made running pretty unproductive except for all
the USA calls. I once again had better results just sweeping the bands working
everything I heard. This produced a lot of surprising mults, Day 2 proved to be
worse than day 1. Lots of weak DX and strong USA. 40 had some nice strong
European signals to help the mult count but was still unrunnable. Day 2 was
pretty much un-runnable.
Overall it was an awesome contest. Nice to work a big amount of JA and Oceania.
Just hope one day we get an extended opening to all of Europe. Station and
Operator performed very well. Thanks for all the Q’s. Hope to see everyone in
the CQWW CW test next month doing some kind of Multi!!
Big congrats to our team mates at V47T and ZF1A, great to hear the boys on up at
KL7RA!

continue to be a reliable solution when the more basic brains at ND7K are in
need. MOAS RX/TX Solutions now in place.
