I have an SB-1000 and it's a very good unit, provided it was assembled
properly, of course.  It will put out 1kw peak on SSB and CW, but RTTY
should be held to about 600 watts, lest odoriferous vapors emanate.  

$750 seems a bit high. Offer him $600 and don't go up very much.
