[AMPS] Vacuum relays

I have a mint condition Ameritron AL80A.  I know...it is not a rock crusher,
but it sure grinds up peebles pretty good.

There are two things I don't like about the unit....1) the meter swing and
overshoot...and 2) the damn relay noise.

Has anyone placed a 12 vdc vacuum relay...or reed relay in an amp instead of
the open type?  Has to be 12 volts cause I don't want to rewire a not of
circutry.  I want to operate.
