- Tubes with good vacuums do not appear to have this problem.  I 
typically use a 100k ohm, 0.5w resistor to develop cutoff bias.  The 
typical V drop is about 22v during receive.  This means that the pair of 
3-500Zs are drawing 0.23mA total.  I can not hear noise from the 3-500Zs 
in the receiver.
