Hi to all
The answer to the initial power spike is a fixed ALC into the
transceiver. Using a fixed voltage the time constant in the rig no longer
determines the initial high power spike.
Combining this fixed voltage with a DC voltage produced by the peak
RF into the grid of the PA prevents the grid from going positive while
protecting the amp from the initial spike on key down. This is particularly
bad for low drive tubes like 3CX800's. such as in the Alpha 87
