Herb:  It might be interesting to ask ten or so owners how many times 
their amplifier was returned for service during the warranty period.  
-  I have tested a number of kaput gold-sputtered tubes that were removed 
from Alpha amplifiers.  One of the gold-sputtered tubes shown in 
"Parasitics Revisited" {9/90 *QST*} was removed from an Alpha.
