[AMPS] re:autotransformer

Whenever I get a transformer, I run up the primary with a variac, watching the primary current.  No load on the secondary.  Older transformers, WW2 vintage, are poor performers, with 110 volt or 220 volt primaries.  I happen to have 125/250 volts coming into the house, I have to be careful what I use.  K4GF
