That's true of any good salesman, from PT barnum to Bill Gates.

Every person selling anything as a general rule touts their product 
as the only cure, and dismisses anything else as meaningless.

That's true whether they make money, or lose money on the sale. And 
that's true if it is a theory, and idea, or a real working product.

IMHO, the best source is not one who want's to sell the product....no 
matter what the product is. 

I'm certainly not implying anything other than the fact it's often 
just that one side is presented, and sometimes the data is more than 
a little "cooked".

My other point was it seems only ONE person is claiming the 
resistor could fail ONLY from a parasitic, yet EVERYONE else 
acknowleges carbon comp resistors are prone to failures from heat.

Please don't miss useful data because of uncareful reading! None of 
this is that sinister!
