A suitable relay would have a rated make time of 8mS or less.  This is 
not fast enough to obviate hot switching with newer transceivers.  
However, by using a simple speedup circuit, such relays can be made to 
have a make time of a bit less than 2mS, which is ok.  [see Fig 7B at:
