[AMPS] many positions bandswitch

The bandswitch in my newly acquired Dentron MT-2000 antenna tuner is bad. It
is an 18 position ceramic that is actually pretty rugged. I picked up this
tuner for a song at a swap meet and this is why!!

Can anyone help with the need for this bandswitch? There is some room to go
bigger in size but I prefer to stay with at least 18 positions.

Any help greatly appreciated.
