If you use the original style self centering end clamps and thru bolt you
will have plenty of reserve voltage rating at 4KV so half that is very
safe.   Mount to a bakelite board or a ceramic stand-off. DO NOT mount
directly to the chassis as I have found that the end mounting terminal
tolerance varies quite a bit from the actual end of the resistor.
