€ 8160 good. drive it with a SB-220, 8kv at 5a. . Makes way more
sense than a 3cx3000a7. Good handles too.

......
>Rich, re dentron L loading, u state if amp is tuned to 800Ma of plate I,
>that on ssb, meter will bounce up to only 300Ma??

€ look at the peak current from an anode supply with an oscilloscope and
you will see that meters show only about 1/3 of the real current on SSB.
Mo' mic. gain is not necessarily mo' betta. .

>I tune my L4B to 800 Ma. Book

600

€ I know a guy who tunes his SB-200 at 450mA. He talks it up to 500mA
when he's chasing DX. .

>It helps meter out if the starting point is 240-260Ma !

€ Eimac recommends 75mA per tube ZSAC. .

€ it's spelt Hipersil. The transformer had a 0.079-ohm 240v primary.
After I installed the #4 Cu wire to the breaker box, there was little
sag. On an "ahhhh", anode V was just under 8k. . The 8171 cathode is
capable of 12a of peak emission, so there is plenty.

>You must be assuming ssb with no clipping,

€ no clipping and minimal mic. gain. "Speak softly and carry a big
stick". - TR. It is my opinion that CB-style operation may be ok on
Channel 6, but it doeth sucketh on a ham band. . When I hear a guy with
wacko-banana processing, it tells me that he has an inadequate amplifier.

>and alc meter bouncing 1/16" every 4 secs. Ever operated the CQ WW ?

€ no. Using a tetrode with handles during a contest is not kosher.

€ And the SB-220. was producing less PEP because of CB-style operation.

syllables.

€ Dropping out between syllables is too fast for me. At a minimum, I
adjust the vox to drop between sentences. With the exception of
emergencies, I do not continue to converse with anyone who does not pause
between sentences. My pet peeve is a guy who asks me a question, does
not pause, and goes into a monologue. ..

cheers, .Jim
