[AMPS] Clipperton L

Hello All
I have a Clipperton L that I am going to use with my Kenwood 940 SAT. I was 
told recently that I need to install a limiting resistor to keep the amp 
from blowing the relay in the rig. It seems that the amp ( it doesn't have a 
tuned input) will sometimes sent a surge and blow the relay.
Can anyone confirm this? and can anyone tell me what size resistor and where 
to in stall it?
