   I have the motors, on hand;  I also have the linear actuators for the

   That is cute for a single section but how does it transition to the
next section?  There would necessarily have to be some flex in there
somewhere...

  Since it will be wayyyyyy more work (time & $$$) than whatever the
materials cost, I figure that I may as well use (solid) silver.

  Fortunately, I have friends with same!

  I should probably have also mentioned that this will not be hot
switched, and that the switching time may be "slow"; anything under a
second will be fine.
