Sort of about,
"Amidon is Not a manufacturer of ferrite material."
The controlling factor here concerning distortion and harmonics is that
a true transmission line xfmr is Not Flux Coupled like a conventional
xfmr. Because of this, the core plays only the part of a simple RF
choke, increasing the effective inductance of the windings. All xmfr
action is accomplished via transmission line action. The currents in the
bi-filar (transmission line) windings of the un-un are equal and
opposite along the entire winding. Therefore, the core has a very
Un-demanding job; it acts only as a choke, isolating the input end of
the winding from the output end. If the inductive reactance is of the
proper value (easy to accomplish), e.g., at least 5 times the circuit Z,
there is essentially No Flux generated in the core at all! I conclude if
there is no flux (due to equal and opposite current flow), then there
can be No Distortion created in this xmtr. And the core operates stone
cold.
