[AMPS] SSB signal quality

I think the SSB signals that are normally of concern to listener ops around
on the bands are those with splatter and buckshot that steps on the signals
of guys trying to QSO on nearby frequencies.  These are due to over drive
and/or over modulation.

Narrow signals that sound awful due to compression and/or other speech
processing don't interfere with hams on nearby frequencies.
