[AMPS] 30-S1 Question

Perhaps the best reason for changing the final tube in the 30S-1 is that the
4CX1500 is specially designed for linear amplifiers and therefore has a much
cleaner output than the 4CX1000.

It is rare that a simple change of tube (with corresponding change of screen
and bias voltages) will yield a substantially cleaner signal. The 30S-1,
with negative feedback, is a very clean amplifier. With the 4CX1500 change,
and operating within the tube manufacturer's specifications, the 30S-1 will
be substantially cleaner than almost any of the drivers used.
