The one remaining 25 Hz generator plant in Keokuk, IA at Lock and Dam #17 on
the Mississippi closed in 1997.  It supplied power to rotating machinery at
industrial sites nearby.  It and others once supplied power to local
residents, but incandescent lights on 25 Hz are not viable since you can see
them flicker.
