Interesting. Many years ago I often used to see '250Bs removed from a
Marconi NT204 distributed amplifier as part of routine maintenance. These
always appeared to have been grossly overheated insofar as they were
extremely blackened and contaminated with what looked almost like soot. The
maintenance staff seemed quite happy to run them in this state, however,
and thought nothing of the occasional flashover! I wonder what the
anode-screen leakage was like.
