Tom, you're not trying to tell us that DSP is not the be-all and end-all, best
thing since sliced bread, guaranteed snake oil cure for fogs, high wind and
indigestion, helps babies while teething, that people would have us believe, are
you? Shame on you! Go wash your mouth out! You're a heretic.

If it's digital, it's got to be good. Everybody says so.

About 20 years ago, I was involved with an IC application at a place where they
were  doing the development to change their professional HF rx design to DSP
filters. They demonstrated it to me, and I showed them that on 20m, a signal
inside the roofing filter but outside the wanted passband crunched the 10 bit
DSP. The response was 'Yes, but it's digital, so it has to be an improvement on
analogue!' Bit freaks!

Having said which, I find the external DSP audio box has its uses, especially
with noise reduction on SSB. A good back up to decent crystal filters.
