This has smacked it on the head; DSP in the ham context has to be seen 
as cheap and nasty and a sales gimmick. High Q crystal filters remain 
expensive, while multi-mode, multi-bandwidth DSP can be implemented for 
a few dollars at most once the software has been sorted out.

One of the great advantages of DSP is the lack of ringing in narrow 
bandwidths because of near zero group delay, and reduced operator 
fatique resulting from the noise reduction.
