Hello Ian,

Are you familiar with the EL34 tubes made by MULLARD in the eighties?

I have infront of me a TUNGSRAM valve in a white cartoon with the text xf2
84F5 and TUNGSRAM /imp on the glass bulb.It has the exactly the same inside
( two getter halos ) and dimensions as the MULLARD valve. However, the base
height on the TUNGSRAM is lower. Both valve bases have the same black or
eventually very dark brown coulour. The code on the Mullard is xf1 82A2.

My question now is: are the TUNGSRAM valve actually made by MULLARD?
Although the chinese illegal copies of other audio valves also are in white
cartoons, these valves of mine were sold to a friend of mine from government
surplus some 15 years ago. At that time I do not think the chinese produced
any valves to the west? Inside and codes are identical with both valve types
are'nt they, so..?

Ian I believe you can get some info as you are near the MULLARD source.
Right?

Thanks in advance

73s de Hans SM5KI
