I'm sorry, I no longer have the SB-1000, and the AL80B manual I saw belonged to
someone else.  However, I'm sure someone has one and can quote the instructions,
where it says to run it up to 500 MA during tuneup, and then to reduce drive so
that plate current does not exceed 400 MA on CW.   I remember this very clearly!
