What is your tube line-up?
Also, your fuses/c.b.'s to the primary of the HV transformer must
be properly sized so as to not trip on normal peak loads, but to
trip ASAP during a fault.

My 8877amps that have 20 amp C.B.'s in the P.S. that produce
4 kv @ 1 amp use Ohmite 10 ohm 100 watt units in series with
the B+ line. Larger tubes will require more ohms/watts for the glitch
resistor. Eimac suggests 10 ohms or more for the 3CX3000A7, and
10 ohms 200 watts for the YC-156. A high-speed crowbar in the primary
of the HV transformer is a plus in damage control with larger tubes.
