[Amps] Oozing power supply????????????

I have a power supply in an amp that is cover with a fabric of sorts 
over the windings looks like gauze. I had the amp on for about an hour. 
then i heard this oozing sound. I pulled the plug.
I pulled the bottom cover off and out of a hole in the fabric black tar 
like substance was flowing out.  It did stop after it cooled for a few 
minutes . i reached in with a screw driver and pulled out the small pile 
it had turned to a black rubber like substance??????????
What is this and can i fix it if so please enlighten me.
The amp has set for years and this was reallty the first time it has 
been fired up.
