Not a good idea in general!  Fewer volts is fine, but putting 220 on a 110 primary to 
double the output volts is asking for trouble... in the form of high temperatures, high 
primary currents, and blown fuses.  

Even if the primary can be properly wired for 220VAC, the secondary will still be 6.6 
volts.
