Popular Science has an article on the ultra high speed scramjet. In order to develop it, however, they need a wind tunnel that produces a mach 6.0 wind. Standard compressors do not work.
Some of this technology described in this article may be useful for the ultimate blower for the high power final. I remember a note that the object of cooling was to try to blow the tube out of the socket. This wind tunnel technology may be just the ticket.
More air through science.
