Nope. They won't give you cash for it unless you have an account with 
them from which they can draw the funds in the event that the check 
comes back insufficient funds. The bank will always have recourse to 
get the money back from you or they won't cash the check in the first 
place. At least that's the way it works at the bank I'm at.
