Dear Mike,

The Henry 2KD at 220vac input is said to consume 15 amps, tops.
The #10AWG feed from your distribution panel, at 50 feet, is plenty
of circular mils to not heat up when your key is down.

The issue you mention of running a separate neutral outside of the confines of your normal feed is a bad practice, though, because
of the double-insulation requirement for Romex and because wiring that
is not double-insulated normally runs in conduit, which provides the
extra layer of protection.

You've gone and spent $2K on a nice amplifier. Why not treat yourself
to some nice wiring. Even though it will be in the wall will you not sleep more soundly knowing your house wiring has that layer of protection it's taken 100 years of electrical experience to afford you?

If you're going to run the 10/3 with ground, make sure you install the right 4-prong outlet. At the PDSC, you might even consider a GFCI type
breaker.
