[Amps] Buck boost transformer

How would it work if you used a plate transformer with a little higher
output than wanted. Install the secondary of a small buck transformer in
the primary of the plate transformer.
In the primary of the buck transformer place a resistor of selected size.

Would this provide some regulation of the high voltage?
As the supply gets loaded the primary current increases and the current
in the buck transformer also increases. But the resistor in the primary
of the buck transformer would cause the buck voltage to drop. As the
buck voltage drops the output voltage of the plate transformer would
increase to compensate.

Anyone ever tried this?
