[Amps] Bandswitch Question

I have noticed on several amplifiers that the tank
coils remain in the circuit as you change bands with
the bandswitch.  As an example the 10 meter coil is
switched in but the large tank coil is connected at
the bandswitch wafer though it is bypassed on the
bandswitch wafer.  In other words as you change bands
the tank coils are dropped out of the circuit little
by little.  This is in contrast to having an
individual contact for each band position on the
bandswitch.

Why can't you just have an individual and isolated
contact for each band's tank coil position?
