[Amps] Why hasn't solid state replaced tubes?

I have a 50 kw AM transmitter a mile up the road from me,  its modular 
1KW - 2 transistor FET- cards..  over 50 cards into combiners with the 
same amount of modules for audio..  the backup is a 10 kw and its built
the same way individual modules at 1 kw..
