Re Millen HV connectors:

Being around amps, homebrew and otherwise, I have become extra cautious with
respect to HV supplies and interconnects. My Drake L-4B uses what appears
to be a polyetheleyne insulated (similar to RG-8 Center conductor and
dielectric) HV lead, terminated in a Millen HV connector, at the RF Deck
back chassis. It scares me to trust my life to plastics as insulators for a
3kv supply, so I unsoldered the Millen, added and grounded some braid from
RG-8 around the HV lead, and even covered the Millen connector with it.
Does anyone trust and energized Millen connetor enough to lay your hand on
it, or to reach around it, possible touching it, while making other
connnections behind your amp? I would be more comfortable with a HV coaxial
connection there, or for any amp with separate HV supply.
