[Amps] bring up an HT 41

3B28 followed the 866 mercury vapors and they were much more hardy.  10 kv
at an amp.  I ran a bridge with 4 of the 3B28's with 5500 ac .  Johnson 6N2
thunderbold amplifier used (6) 80 mfd caps to handle the 2750 vdc. with a
pair of 866's.

I would change out those old caps and then not worry about failure in the
power supply.

|the internet it has a pair of 866 rectifier tubes and 6
|electrolytic filter caps.

|I'm thinking he needs full line voltage to run the 866s but less
|plate v to try and save the caps. I was
|thinking that he could run the hv primary from a variac for a
|while and the rest of the amp from normal line
|v. Anyone have any ideas?
