AMPS PEOPLE,

I built the high pot tester shown on Rich Measures site about four years ago.

I used a 7.5 kv neon sign transformer. They are available
for under $15 on e-bay and from local neon sign repair stores.

A small variac is used to adjust the HV output.

A voltage doubler circuit was used and the output is about 20kv.

A meter shows HV output and another is used for leakage current.

"Tiger stripe" HV resistors were purchased from a local surplus store for $5

The hardest items to find was the hV caps. Found some .01 15kv radar pulse
caps that worked lake a charm.

Built the unit on a plastic base with a plastic front panel with plenty of
space to keep wiring apart.

Construction should be done to minimize "sharp points" or corona effect
will give you leakage readings
that are not part of the device under test leakage.

Pictures available on request.
