If Toyota would go to a 8500V system, you could order the SK-300A option and 
just drop an 8171 in the trunk.

For sure, Steven - and 6 volts DC is an engineering challenge as well.
As I understand it, when VW abandoned 6v in the mid-1960s, they almost
went with a 24v system instead of 12v.  If they had done this, they
would have saved much production cost on copper.
-  In its Prius gas-electric hybrid automobile, Toyota uses 200vDC.
Now we're talking some real QRO-mobile.
