I first got a private copy from Will and replied privately. In case anyone
else might be interested, here's the jist of my reply. We'll be onto
ignition electrics and oil leaks from motorcycle engines next :-)

Import tarrifs, profits for the stores, 17.5% sales tax and so on, it all
adds up. We're sort of used to it - most things in $ over there turns into £
over here. It's a regular topic of conversation about importing ham gear.

It's a very long time since I've seen Segrams for sale - I guess I'd have to
get into a specialist shop in a major city to find it. Big supermarkets
rarely have anything beyond Jack Daniels, specialist booze shops will
usually have Wild Turkey, Jeam Beam and a few others with silly names only
for export. The prices are all much the same. On the other hand, they will
also have anything up to 50 varieties of single malt scotch and another 20
blended. In the end, I think it's all about cultural tastes and we're just
never exposed to the flavours in the liquor you guys brew.

Cheers,

Steve
