[Amps] Removing enamel insulation?

I have used paint remover to do this. The gel kind works well. Put some paint 
remover into a metal bottle cap or some similar small container and dip the 
end of the wire in it and let it sit there for 10-15 minutes. Usually this will 
soften up the enamel and it will wipe right off with a small rag or paper 
towel leaving bright shiny copper underneath. If the enamel is stubborn just let 
it soak a while longer. This works great on hard-to-handle thin enameled wire. 
I don't think using an open flame is good for small-diameter wire - it seems 
to weaken it and probably starts to oxidize it also. 73 Todd WD4NGG
